I had an issue installing OpenSuse 11.3 on my HP 510 laptop. I think it was an issue with apci. The install would freeze at hardware probe. Anyways, I was able to install it using acpi=off apm=off nolapci options on install startup. After install, I removed those options from the /grub/menu.lst and it works with no issues.
